"It's a bitter world
And I'd rather dream"

-- Lonely Lullaby by Owl City

I've been a fan of Owl City ever since I first heard the song Fireflies - I love the fact that practically all of the songs are so optimistic and cheerful and never fail to put a smile on my face, and I think the lyrics are genius. On September 15th, I finally saw Owl City play live, which was an amazing experience. There was a really good atmosphere in the crowd and the band was one bundle of positive energy, clearly having a great time being on stage. And Adam Young is such an incredibly sweet, humble, down-to-earth guy - you just gotta love him.

I do, anyway. Hence this drawing. :B

:iconadamyoungplz::iconsaysplz: Awww, thank you! You're too kind! *blushes*

When I was looking for reference pictures, I came across this one, which was large () but rather grainy (). I was about to discard it, when I thought that it might be fun to try and capture the grainy texture in my drawing. Deviating from my normal methods, I didn't use any blending tools, apart from a blending stick to slightly smoothen out the bottom left part of the background. The black areas consist of three layers applied on top of each other (HB mechanical pencil and 4B regular pencil).

All in all, I had a lot of fun working on this drawing, and I'm actually pretty happy with the way it turned out. Double plus! :happybounce:

I absolutely love this! Such a brilliant drawing of Adam! I also saw him live last year and it was by far one of the best concerts I've ever been to! Great work!
