Yuck, I hate the way her hair turned out. :bleh:

Anyway, I want to dedicate this drawing to all the people who don't watch the Twilight movies because of Robert or Taylor, but because of the girl who - in my opinion - is the true star (and hottie) of the series: Kristen Stewart. :aww:

That is an awesome drawing of her! :wow: I am not a Twilight fan, and I don't even like this little actress much, but I love this drawing! I myself was just commissioned to draw Edward and I have to roll my eyes at people who don't look at the art but rather the character. I've gotten some pretty dumb remarks like "you'd be a better artist if you didn't draw things like the characters of Twilight." How lame is that. This is a brilliant drawing, one of the best of her I've ever seen. Great job, keep up the awesome work, and no matter who you want to draw, I'll love it!!

Awww no problem :blushes: I just know how much I appreciated artwork related comments on my Edward drawing and how much anti-Twilight comments made me groan, so I just wanted to reassure you I see see the artwork you did and I think it's WONDERFUL :smooch:

I find smiles like this one incredibly hard to draw, yet you don't seem to have a problem with that. Stunning drawing, I love the expression and all that hair. Plus, there's something special about your shading style. I cannot put my finger on it, but it's very characteristic to your pencil drawings, that odd smoothness (in a good way )and the way you make the eyes come alive. :aww: Brilliant, simply brilliant. Keep up the good work!

Thank you so much! :blushes: I used to avoid drawing pictures of people who were smiling because I could never get the lips and teeth to look right, but now I really enjoy it, mostly because there's no facial expression that's more fun to look at for hours in a row than a smile. :D And the eyes have always been my favourite feature to draw. So it's great to hear that they seem to come out OK! :aww:
I use a lot of blending tools (tissues, Q-tips, and blending stumps) for the shading, maybe that explains the smoothness? I don't know... What do you use?

I use the same, but it comes out differently, you know, every artist has their own style. And yours really stands out. I love it.

Well, what exactly do you need from me? Tips on how you can improve yourself, or a description of how I work...? :)

i really dunno? maybe the steps in shading to make things look more 3-D ish

Well, when it comes to shading, the keyword is 'layers'. You should start by applying a basic layer (to the entire face), and then add more layers as you go along. Don't be afraid to make an area too dark; contrast will make the relief in your drawing come out more (and if you don't like the way it looks, you can always smooth it out or erase it). Blending is also an important part of the process. I always use tissues for large areas and 'quick blending', and Q-tips and blending stumps for smaller areas. I'd advise you not to use your finger, although some people may tell you there's no better tool than that. It's what you're used to, I guess. Anyway: my main tip is to keep adding layer after layer. I hope this helps! :)
